Locals and tourists alike now have another form of entertainment in the pristine island of Boracay.
Developer CityMall Commercial Centers, Inc. and ABS-CBN Corp. have just opened a movie theater in Boracay last December 15.
“Residents can now enjoy the latest box-office releases without having to travel out, adding more leisure activities to be enjoyed,” Double Dragon Properties, CityMall owner, was quoted in a story by ABS-CBN.
“The addition of cinemas in Boracay is part of our thrust of bringing modern conveniences to the island,” the company also said.
Locals used to travel out of the island just to be able to watch a movie.
The cinema can accommodate up to 220 viewers and the movies will be screened on their release date.
Last Friday, the new cinema featured the blockbuster hit “The Last Jedi”, which is the latest installment to the sequel of the legendary cult favorite George Lucas creation, Star Wars.
Next in line are Metro Manila Film Festival movies “The Revenger Squad” and “Ang Panday”.
By the year 2020, the developers are eyeing to expand the cinema to accommodate up to 12,000 guests.
