A group of robbers hijacked an armored van and killed its driver on Friday night in Bulacan province. An estimated P6 million cash was taken by the group.
According to Police information, the incident happened at past 6 p.m. in Barangay Borol 1st, Balagtas town.
The slain driver and security guard was identified as Jorlito Alarba from Royal Mandarin Agency.
Initial police investigation showed that a group of six posed as security guards.
They allegedly hijacked the armored van, which was later found abandoned along Mc Arthur Highway in Balagtas.
Police said that three men took control of the armored van while it was parked at Robinson Balagtas while the driver was waiting for his companions.
Investigators said that the driver was shot in the head when the hijackers reached a dark area along the highway.
According to Balagtas PNP OIC Chief Inspector Restituto Granil, they are looking at the possibility of an inside job.
There were no signs of forcible opening of the van’s vault when the suspects took away the cash.
