The Philippine National Police (PNP) regional director on Monday, December 4 honored a policeman who was injured in the most recent rebellious attack by the suspected New People’s Army (NPA).
Reports say PO3 Alberto Bernadas could barely speak when he explained to the media their ordeal when their station in Binuangan town, Misamis Oriental was attacked by the suspected rebels on Sunday, December 3.
The police officer, when visited by Regional Director Timoteo Pacleb in Capitol University Medical Center, relayed how the rebels chastised them about their outdated weapons and said that the armed group used grenade launchers in their assault.
Regional Director Pacleb, however, dismissed the claim; saying it was simply the NPA’s scheme to demoralize his men.
There were only eight cops on duty during the attack, whereas the NPA were believed to have been around a hundred.
Director Pacleb pinned the “Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting” to PO3 Bernadas who endured the most injuries of the surviving cops.
The present administration has been firm in its message to the NPAs that the battle is going to be intense between them if they continue to force their rebellious acts against the government.
The New People’s Army claimed they are responsible for the recent attack; claiming it was their retaliation for the raid in Sugbongcogong town four months ago and their answer to President Rodrigo Duterte’s crackdown order against legal progressive groups.
