- Pampanga governor dared PCSO BM to produce evidence of hubby’s jueteng links
- She also said she shouldn’t drag other people into her tiff with PCSO general manager
MANILA, Philippines – Put up or shut up.
Pampanga Gov. Lilia Pineda had this to say to Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Board Member Sandra Cam as she dared the latter to show proof of her husband Bong Pineda’s links to jueteng.
“Huwag kang mag-akusa kung wala kang mga ebidensiya,” GMA News quoted her as saying. [Don’t accuse when you don’t have evidence.]
Cam claimed PCSO General Manager Alexander Balutan had been in cahoots with the businessman using the state-sanctioned Small Town Lottery (STL) as a front for the illegal numbers game.
The Pinedas have long been alleged to be heavily involved in jueteng; having been invited to attend several congressional inquiries on the matter.
However, Pineda said they did not have any personal connection to Balutan or any other PCSO official. She also said Cam should not drag other people into her personal tiffs.
“Ang sinasabi ko nga, madaling mag-akusa, pero totoo ba ‘yun? Kung may mga difference sila, personal, huwag naman sila magsama ng ibang tao,” she said. [What I’m saying is, it’s easy to accuse, but is it true? If they have any difference, and it’s personal, then they shouldn’t drag other people with them.]
Pineda added that Cam, instead of generating controversy and confusion, could have easily settled whatever issue she had with Balutan in closed-door talks.
“Babae siya, makukuha naman ‘yan sa harap-harapan na pag-sit down lang,” she said. “Pero huwag ka munang magturo, mag-akusa ng tao.”
[She’s a woman, she can easily talk it over with a sit-down. But don’t you point fingers, and accuse other people.]
