A cop was killed and seven others including two soldiers were hurt when two bombs exploded in Maguindanao.
Authorities blamed the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) for the roadside bombings.
As disclosed in a Daily Tribune story, the first bomb explosion took place at around 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 31, 2017, along a municipal road in Shariff Aguak town. Senior Police officer 4 Max Kaibat was killed in the blast. He and other members of the Shariff Aguak Municipal Police Station were conducting security patrol along Barangay Poblacion Mother when the explosion erupted.
Police Officer 3 (PO3) Jalison Abdullah, PO1 Archie Ansare Amelista, PO1 Alimodin Nuphay, PO1 Zainoden Abdullah and PO1Ricardo Almonia were wounded.
The second bombing took place ten hours later along Barangay Limpongo in Datu Hoffer town while a military truck carrying members of the Philippine Army’s 57th Infantry Battalion was traversing a stretch of the road connecting Shariff Aguak and Datu Hoffer.
Private first class (Pfc) Nelmar Acaso and Pfc. John Mark Roquero, as per reports, were wounded in the incident.
