Months after Isaiah Lustre passed away, actress Nadine Lustre — a loving sister and a strong woman — shared what she has learned after losing her younger brother.
In an interview with Tonight With Boy Abunda, Nadine shared a few of the many realizations that she had after her 16-year-old brother passed away.
“Ang dami, Tito Boy. Unang-una sa lahat ng natutunan ko is to appreciate everything around you. Kasi hindi mo alam kailan lang, or kung ga’no lang katagal magla-last iyang mga iyan sa ‘yo. So as long as it’s there, you have to appreciate it. All the people you love, give them 110 percent of your attention, iyong care mo, iyong pagmamahal mo. Kasi hindi mo talaga alam,” she told host Boy Abunda.
[I’ve learned so many things, Tito Boy. First, to appreciate everything around you. You don’t know if how long a certain thing will last. So as long as it’s there, you have to appreciate it. All the people you love, give them 110 percent of your attention, your care, your love. Because you don’t really know.]
“Ako, I’m gonna admit na hindi ako masyadong nakapag-spend ng time with my brother because when I’m at home, he’s at school. Tapos minsan naman, I’m at work,” she added.

Nadine also stressed how important communication is.
“Communication talaga. I feel like a small step could go a long way, na if I had talked to him more, or if I had open up to him or he had open up to me, baka in a way I could have changed what happened,” she said.

Meanwhile, the other half of popular love team Jadine and Nadine’s boyfriend James Reid shared how such incident affected their relationship as a couple.
“After that whole thing, that’s when Nadine started opening out to me. I think it’s because she kept trying to be strong for her family, for everyone looking towards her for strength. So she was really holding her emotions in, and that was one of the things I tried to get out of her. It’s okay to feel sad, it’s okay to cry, to let it out, it’s natural. I think after that, she learned to open up and trust me with her emotions,” he said.
Isaiah passed away in October 2017.
