VP Leni continues to help residents and evacuees affected by Mayon eruption in Albay

Vice President Leni Robredo vowed to help residents and evacuees affected by the eruption of Mayon Volcano in Albay. VP Robredo visited the towns of Camalig and Guinobatan, and Ligao City in the province of Albay on Wednesday, January 24, 2018.

The Vice President announced that her office received batches of donations and they are ready to distribute them as soon as possible. She was quoted by ABS-CBN saying, “We downloaded funds for relief already and we’ve activated our private partners for our Angat Buhay to pitch in.”

The VP has been busy raising funds, “We expect to receive more in the coming days, particularly Friday,” she added.

During her last visit in Albay, she helped distribute food packs, sacks of rice, face masks, blankets, mats, and hygiene kits to affected residents. She distributed a total of P2.295 million worth of relief goods in 3 evacuation centers in Albay.

An estimate of more than 60,000 people have already been evacuated as Mayon Volcano continues to spew lava and ash.
