Angelica Panganiban unexpectedly appeared at the post-Valentine concert of Moira dela Torre, the singer who popularized the heartwrecking song “Malaya”, last Sunday, February 18. She performed a spoken poetry piece, “Bakit ba lagi akong iniiwan? Bakit lagi akong nasasaktan?”
The “Hugot Queen”, whose lovelife and heartbreaks with former boyfriends Carlo Aquino, Derek Ramsay and John Lloyd Cruz are not unknown to the public, poured her heart out in a well-received performance.
Her soul-bearing act was a part of Moira’s rendition of “You are My Sunshine”; the theme song of the currently released love story “Meet Me in St. Gallen”.
The “Banana Sundae” star’s performance drew both laughter and applause from the audience. However, it wasn’t just meant to amuse the crowd but also to speak of serious “hugot” lines about healing from a shattered heart and her journey to finding courage and hope of moving on.
“Aabot ka doon sa mauubusan ka ng mga ‘bakit’, mauubusan ng sigla, ng gana. Pupuwede ka pala nilang tapusin, pupuwede ka palang mamatay. At kapag doon, nakabaon ka na sa sobrang kalungkutan, doon ka na babangon,” she said in an excerpt taken from her spoken poetry.
[You’d reach a point where you’d run out of ‘why’s’, run out of energy, and run out of motivation. That it was possible for them to put an end to you; that it could allow you to die. And when you’re engrained in so much loneliness, it is then you’d rise up again.]
