  • Charges were filed against the clinic for allegedly selling unregistered cosmetic/drug products
  • They also allegedly refused inspection

The Food and Drug Administration have already padlocked the Belo Medical Clinic in Muntinlupa.

This came after the FDA filed charges against the clinic for allegedly selling unregistered cosmetic/drug products and refusing a government inspection. The FDA had with them copies of summons with preventive measure that orders Belo to stop selling 11 unregistered products in their pharmacy.

The FDA group posted a notice right outside the closed Belo Medical Group pharmacy in Alabang, Muntinlupa Branch. It reads, “West Gate Alabang Muntinlupa City branch is hereby ordered closed and to cease and desist in conducting its business activity” for violating Section 11(c) of Republic Act No. 3720 or the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act.” Maan Macapagal of ABS-CBN shared on Twitter a video of the authorities locking the place.

Retired Gen. Allen Bantolo, chief of the FDA Regulatory Enforcement Unit, was quoted by ABS-CBN saying, “”Hindi dumaan sa registration process ng FDA, so ang ibig sabihin nun, kung hindi siya authorized, hihintayin niya dapat na dumaan doon sa proseso ng FDA, that they will be allowed to sell.”

[It didn’t go through the registration process of the FDA. It means, they are not authorized and should have waited until it passed the FDA. Then, they will be allowed to sell it.]
