- The local government of Quezon City through the efforts of the QC Veterinary Department gave rabies vaccine to approximately 200 cats and dogs
- The vaccination program is a preparation for the hot summer season, when rabies cases are at its peak
About 200 cats and dogs were vaccinated with anti-rabies at Purok 12, Barangay Commonwealth, Quezon City on Thursday morning.
The vaccination is part of the local government’s program and the Quezon City Veterinary Department.
According to veterinarian Dr. Esmeraldy Emyl Encarnado, it is important that pets receive the anti-rabies especially on hot season because there’s an elevated chance that they bite.
“Marami tayong constituents…alaga nang alaga ng aso, hindi nila alam ang responsibility nila,” Encarnado said. [Our constituents may not know their responsibilities].
Councilor Gian Sotto also reminded the public that they have to take full responsibility if their pets would happen to bite someone.
Based on Quezon City Veterinary Department’s stats, the rabies cases in the city lowered by 30% because of the vaccines.
However, the country’s hot summer season will surely bring more cases.
