The leader of “Waje Group”, a group that allegedly collects revolutionary taxes for the New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested in Mexico, Pampanga.
The arrested individual was identified as Rodrigo Waje.
He was collared after police served him a search warrant at his residence in Barangay Concepcion on Sunday.
Police said that the Waje Group collected revolutionary taxes from businessmen and quarry operators in Pampanga, and was allegedly responsible for “the recruitment of prospective “leftists” in the areas of San Luis and Mexico towns [that have adopted] Bagong Hukbong Bayan (BHB) groups.”
The authorities seized two guns and ammunition from Waje’s home.
He is currently held at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) office in Angeles City.
