A police officer who has been declared Awol since 2015 was arrested in a buy-bust operation Wednesday afternoon for selling illegal drugs.
The suspect was identified as 32-year-old PO1 Ronnie Gonzaga.
He was formerly assigned at the Marikina City police of the Eastern Police District (EPD).
Gonzaga was arrested in his house at Bonifacio Ave., Brgy Barangka around 6:10 p.m. by operatives of the city drug enforcement unit headed by Insp. Greco Gonzales. Witness to the arrest was Brgy. Barangka Chair Efren Managuit.
Marikina City police chief Senior Supt. Roger Quesada said a “confidential informant” squealed Gonzaga’s drug pushing activities.
Seized from Gonzaga were five sachets of suspected shabu.
Chief Quesada said that Gonzaga was on the city’s drug watch list as pusher and user.
Chief Quesada added that the suspect had been advised to change his ways during the first weeks of the revived Oplan Tokhang Operation but apparently refused to do so.
MOreover, Gonzaga denied the allegations against him and prior to his arrest, Gonzaga didn’t have previous criminal case/s.
Gonzaga is currently detained at the Marikina Police Station and is facing charges for possession and selling of illegal drugs.
