An inspector of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) who was on his way to work in Cebu City was shot and wounded by an unidentified gunman early Monday.
The victim, identified as Edwin Sarcon, 53, sustained a gunshot wound in his neck.
Sarcon was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment.
According to police investigation, Sarcon was on his way to the BJMP regional office around 7:30 a.m. when a motorcycle-riding gunman shot him several times along R. Duterte Street corner V. Rama Avenue, Barangay Guadalupe.
The police have yet to determine the motive behind the attack.
City Police Homicide Section’s Senior Police Officer 1 Winston Ybañez said they would try to get any CCTV footage of the incident to help identify the gunman and solve the crime.
