  • The authorities came up with a brilliant plan to disguise their drug-raiding convoy as a class reunion, complete with balloons and tarpaulin as props
  • Their target was a reported shabu tiangge in Lucena City where more than 100 were arrested

More than a hundred suspected illegal drugs-involved persons were nabbed during an operation at a “shabu tiangge” [methanphetamine bazaar] in Lucena City.

With the joint efforts of personnel from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region IV-A, Lucena provincial police, Quezon province Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) and the Philippine Army, they were able to successfully execute the raid by disguising their convoy as a group of people having a class reunion.

Their plan was complete with balloons and a tarpaulin saying “Welcome ASP Batch 2004” as props:

The authorities also conducted operations at the shores to ensure that no drug suspects will escape by water.

Lots of sachets of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia were seized.

The suspects who were arrested did not deny the allegations against them and underwent on-site drug test as part of the operation.

The government’s anti-illegal drug forces vowed to continue their operations to eradicate the drug problem in the area.
