The Kapuso channel will be broadcasting the first-ever Lakorn or Thailand-novela on Philippine TV, starting Monday, as per a Manila Standard story.
Thai-novela You’re My Destiny, which is a remake of the popular Taiwanese romantic comedy series Fated To Love You, will be aired on the GMA Telebabad block replacing the Korean drama Bride of the Water God.
The series tells the story of Pawut, a successor to a large company, and Wanida, a secretary in a law firm. Both went on the same cruise with him planning to propose to his girlfriend while she’s planning on losing her virginity to her boyfriend. Wanida ended up taking cold medicine leading her to feel drowsy and mistakenly enter a different hotel room. Three months passed, she finds out she’s pregnant.
In the soap’s Thai airing, it lasted for 17 episodes with 60 minutes duration each. It was rated, as per My Drama List, eight of ten based on the score from 415 users.
The airing of the first Thai series in the country is a part of GMA: The Heart of Asia‘s 15th-anniversary celebration.
It will also serve as an introduction of Thai series to the Filipino audiences as GMA has been rumored to create a TV series with an actress from Thailand as the leading lady.
Aside from You’re My Destiny, three top-rating Korean dramas will reportedly be aired also on the Kapuso Channel; namely, While You Were Sleeping, Whisper, and Emperor: Ruler of the Mask.
GMA aired the dubbed version of Fated To Love You in 2009.
