GSIS opens scholarship for incoming freshmen dependents of qualified members

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) offers sholarship for children or dependents of its members.

The agency will be providing for tuition and miscellaneous fees of up to P40,000 annually, and a monthly allowance of P3,000 to its scholars.

GSIS will receive 400 new scholars this year.

The active and regular members of GSIS who plan to apply must comply with the following requirements:

  • With permanent employee status
  • Salary Grade 24 and lower (or with monthly salary of P74,000 and lower)
  • In the government service for three years and above
  • Was able to pay premium contribution for six months

Also eligible are children or dependents of permanent total disability pensioners aged 60 years old and below.

GSIS added that the child or dependent must be an incoming freshman, will be studying a 4 or 5-year course and was admitted in a college or university accredited by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED.)

GSIS stressed that they prioritize applicants who have lower income.

GSIS scholars who were able to graduate in college ‘with honors’ will also be receiving additional rewards from the agency.

For cum laude, P20,000; for magna cum laude, P30,000; and for summa cum laude, P50,000.
