A man from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is known as the “Sand King” for living inside a sandcastle for 22 years.

44-year-old Marcio Mizael Matolias decided that he’s done with paying rent and so he built a 32-square-feet sandcastle and made it his home. The Sand King said he enjoys doing his hobbies which are reading, fishing and beach golf. Wearing a crown, he would pose for tourists outside his sandcastle and they would give him donations. A book lover, Matolias also sells old books.

Matolias said he is living the good life. He told the Mirror, “I grew up in the Bay of Guanabara, I always lived on the beach. People pay exorbitant rents to live in front of the sea, I do not have bills and here I have a good life.”

He uses a stove outside the sandcastle to cook his meals. When he needs a comfort room, he just runs across to the nearby firehouse. Even when it rains, the “king” would still feel safe inside his “castle.”
