- PBB big boss Lauren Dyogi confirmed that Nadine Lustre once auditioned for the ABS CBN’s TV show, and it was a “bad call” for him not to give them much attention
- The season of Nadine’s attempt at stardom was dubbed “PBB teen clash 2010”
- Aside from Nadine, Maine also auditioned for the show as per snippets of their audition shown on a vlog by Lauren Dyogi
There were rumors circulating online that Nadine Lustre and Maine Mendoza were once aspiring to join “Pinoy Big Brother” (PBB) before they rose to popularity, and eventually became matinee idols with the popular “JaDine” and “AlDub” tandems.
Such rumors were not confirmed; not until Wednesday, when PBB’s big boss Lauren Dyogi showed in his newly launched vlog a clip of Nadine and Maine auditioning for “PBB”.
The season of Nadine’s attempt at stardom was dubbed “PBB teen clash 2010” wherein James Reid won, while for Maine, it was the “PBB 737”; the batch of Miho Nishida and Tommy Esguerra.
Snippets of Nadine and Maine’s auditions were then shown in the video-blog.
“I’m Nadine, eldest po ako sa apat na magkakapatid [eldest among four siblings], I have two brothers and a sister, ‘yung dad ko po walang work…”
Maine introduced herself as a 20-year-old culinary arts graduate who works at her family’s business. She also mentioned her Dubsmash videos, which became her stepping stone to stardom.
It is a dream for someone who writes to have her own book. I have been writing since 2011, and while some of you may think that I am "just" a blogger, you must know that bloggers– writers in general– put so much of themselves into what they do. Writing is a passion. And I may not be a good writer but I enjoy and love expressing myself through the written word. I want to share my experiences and ideas with people; in the hope that I can make a difference in someone's life through my words. I want to inspire them the simplest way I could. And today might be just another day for some but not for me; today, another dream of mine will be fulfilled. I will be officially launching my book this afternoon and I couldn't be prouder of the fact that I wrote everything in it. You'll know some of my life's little adventures (and misadventures too!) #YupIAmThatGirl is an account of my life experiences and lessons, with pointers on the side, plus more info about me that you probably do not care about. Lol! I hope those who read my book will learn something from it, kung wala, ehhhhh.. sana meron! ? Ngayon palang nagpapasalamat na ako sa lahat ng bibili at shempre sa mga bumili na. And to the people who never fail to support me in everything I do, maraming salamat po! And to the Big Guy up there, thank you God, for giving me this chance to be one step closer to who I want to be. ?
Dyogi was doing an explainer on ABS CBN’s ongoing audition caravan called “Star Hunt” when he made the statement.
He admitted having made “bad calls” in the past when it came to scouting talents.
On missing out on talents like Maine and Nadine, Dyogi said: “Maraming nag-audition sa akin na hindi ko napansin, pero sikat na sila ngayon. That’s a bad call on my part. But then again, gano’n talaga. Siguro hindi ako ang kanilang kapalaran.”
[A lot auditioned to me that I haven’t given much attention, but they’re famous now. That’s a bad call on my part. But then again, it is just what it is. Perhaps I wasn’t their destiny.]
But looking on the positive side, Dyogi also hit the jackpot multiple times with a long list of names of former “PBB” housemates, which includes Kim Chiu, Gerald Anderson, Joshua Garcia, Loisa Andalio, Ryan Bang, Sam Milby, Ylona Garcia, Maymay Entrata, and Melai Cantiveros.
