- Labor Usec Paras has filed grave threat charges against Senator Antonio Trillanes
- The complaint stemmed from a recent confrontation between the two at the Senate
- But Trillanes denied the allegation, and said he is willing to face the charges
MANILA, Philippines – Labor Undersecretary Jacinto “Jing” Paras has filed criminal complaint against Senator Antonio Trillanes IV over an alleged confrontation between them inside the Senate hall more than a week ago.
In a six-page complaint, Paras, a former lawmaker and a staunch Duterte ally, filed grave threat charges against the senator for allegedly threatening him with the words “yayariin kita”.
“Ang lakas ng loob mo. Hindi magtatagal ang amo mo. Matatapos din yan. Yayariin kita. Mersenaryo ka. Yayariin kita,” Paras quoted Trillanes as telling him.
[How dare you. Your boss won’t last. He will eventually step down. I will end you. You are a mercenary. I will end you.]
Paras earlier filed inciting to sedition complaint against Trillanes for supposedly urging soldiers to k**l the President. This time, he filed charges against the senator for violating Article 282 of the Revised Penal Code on Grave Threats before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office.
The former Negros Oriental solon who was recently appointed as DOLE undersecretary said Trillanes “was determined with his threat in view of his past involvement with certain public disruptions.”
“And with respondent Sen. Trillanes’ resources as a senator, and his connections with the military being a retired Navy officer, his threat against me can be easily be realized by him,” Paras added.
In response, Trillanes denied threatening Paras during their confrontation last May 29, but added he is ready to answer the charges.
He also called Paras a “cellphone thief”, referring to the incident where the latter was accused by a party-list representative of allegedly stealing his iPhone X.
Paras has since denied the allegation; saying he may have just taken Akbayan party-list Representative Tom Villarin’s pricey phone by accident. He was also facing theft complaint before the Office of the Prosecutor in Quezon City filed by Villarin.
