- Old man selling vegetables during heavy rains got photographed by a netizen
- The photo has since attracted attention
- Compassion poured for the old vendor
On August 3, netizen Ann Lorraine Olarte shared a photo she took of an old man in Sta. Rosa, Laguna whom she saw selling vegetables amid the heavy downpour.
She felt so much pity for the old vendor whom she saw selling on the side of a road while under an umbrella.
She posted as caption: “Kawawa naman si tatay kahit malakas ang ulan kanina nagtitinda pa rin siya ng gulay. Ingat ka po lagi tatay. God bless you po.”
Others would perhaps seek shelter or perhaps head for home because of the heavy rains, but not this old man who chose to stay under his umbrella to continue to sell his goods. Admittedly, his vegetables would not be fresh the following day and that could cause him to lose income.
Who knows? His family’s food for the day probably depends on his sales that day. Truly heartbreaking, right?
Kawawa naman si tatay kahit malakas ang ulan kanina nagtitinda pa rin sya ng gulay. Ingat ka po lagi tatay. Godbless you po. ???
To date, Olarte’s post has gone viral and has been shared more than 47,000 times. Nearly 19K comments have poured on the post with most of them tagging the popular reality programs Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho (KMJS) and Rated K for him to somehow get featured and receive some kind of assistance.
Others are urging those living near the area where the old man sells to buy from him to lighten his struggle.
“Sarap ng gulay na tinda ni lolo sana kung bibli kayo ng gulay niya wag n’yo n babaratin mas dapat pa nga na bigyan ang ganyan kasipag, sana bigyan siya ng malusog na katawan at wag magkakasakit.”
[The vegetables he’s selling are delicious. Hopefully, if you’ll buy from him you won’t turn scrooge as those like him deserve help. May he stay healthy and never get sick.]
“Kung andyan lang ako bibilhin ko lahat ng gulay na tinda mo tatay, para makauwi ka na at hindi na mabasa ng ulan.. God bless po sana bigyan ka pa ng lakas at wag magkakasakit..”
[If only I’m there I’d buy all your vegetables, tatay, so you could come home and not get wet anymore from the rain. God bless you, may you be granted strength and good health.]
