- OFW was sent to jail and will be deported for taking a video of former flatmate who was getting dressed for work
- a 10-second video was shared on an app showing the female flatmate being filmed secretly
This is a stern warning for overseas workers especially those who are based in Middle Eastern countries like the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia where filming and taking photos of a person especially in questionable circumstances is not allowed and is punishable by the law. More so, if the subject is naked or even half-naked and the photos or videos are uploaded on social media or shared through private messages.
Not to be taken lightly, an overseas Filipino worker in Dubai was sent to jail and he is presently facing deportation for secretly taking a video of his former female flat mate in UAE who’s 24 years old.
The lady, also a Filipino, was informed by a friend that her former flat mate, 38, had been sharing on WhatsApp a 10-second video of her partially naked in her room in November as she was getting dressed preparing to go to work.
She was also told that the accused even boasted that he had filmed her naked.
The Dubai Court of First Instance has convicted the suspect over breaching the woman’s modesty, molesting her by secretly filming her naked and misusing the social media by uploading the video clip.
In 2015, a Filipino designer was also sentenced by a United Arab Emirates (UAE) court to jail for recording a video of his female roommates while taking a bath and getting dressed with a hidden camera.
