Skytrax, an international air transport rating organization, has awarded the country’s flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) as its most improved airline for 2019.
PAL was also re-certified with a 4-Star Airline Rating for its onboard product and staff service, as well as for its homebase airport service.
The recognition was conferred to PAL during the 2019 World Airline Awards held on Tuesday, June 18, at the Musée de l’Air et de l’ Espace, Paris Le Bourget Airport, France.
PAL also climbed to the Top 30 airlines, a significant improvement from last year’s 49th spot.
Other awards PAL received this year from Skytrax, as voted by consumers across the globe are:
- Top 10 World’s Best Business Class Comfort Amenities
- Top 10 Best Airline Staff in Asia
- Top 11 World’s Best Cabin Crew
- Top 11 World’s Best Airport Services
- Top 11 World’s Best Premium Economy Class
- Top 14 World’s Best Economy Class
The prestigious Skytrax award is one of the most coveted awards in the airline industry and is considered to be an equivalent of Hollywood’s Oscars.
PAL bested other airlines for the award such as the British Airways which came in 2nd place, followed by Malaysia Airlines, Fiji Airways and Royal Brunei Airlines.
Rounding up the Top 10 are Gulf Air (6th), United Airlines (7th), Air Mauritius (8th), LEVEL (9th) and Spirit Airlines (10th).
Meanwhile, Qatar Airways reclaimed the most-coveted World’s Best Airline Award for 2019; besting erstwhile winner Singapore Airlines which slipped to 2nd place this year.
Japan’s ANA All Nippon Airways came in third, followed by Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific Airways and Dubai’s Emirates Airlines.
