“Half a million Filipinos are manning ships all over the world, but rarely has a female been at the helm. The Kapuso Network’s latest romantic comedy series dubbed as ‘millennial fairytale’ does just that – empowering women, this time, on the high seas,” GMA said in a  press release.

In the upcoming series, Jowalyn (Rita), a brave young woman, is bent on making waves to achieve her dream of becoming a ship captain. She is so focused on making this a reality that she avoids romantic entanglements. Meanwhile, Grant (Ken) is convinced that he already met his one great love during his childhood and he is on the verge of meeting her again. He sets out to look for her; vlogging his way around the world.

Aside from empowering women seafarers, Rita and Ken shared in an interview that the series directed by King Marc Baco and Michael Christian Cardoz is a very light romantic-comedy program that will make the viewers fall in love with the idea of falling in love; making their hearts full, making them laugh, making them cry, and giving them inspiration in love and in life. These are the reasons why they call the upcoming television series a “millennial fairytale”.

Now called “RitKen”, the Kapuso love team’s newest project is also their first primetime TV program. They will be joined by veteran actors Amy Austria, Melanie Marquez, Roderick Paulate, Tonton Gutierrez, and Jestoni Alarcon, as well as brilliant actors James Teng, Kenneth Medrano, Archie Alemania, Joyce Ching, Edgar Allan Guzman, Buboy Villar, Maureen Larrazabal, and Rodjun Cruz.

Maritime students from Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific are also participating in the production of this romantic comedy series as the show pays tribute to all the Pinoy seafarers, as well.

One of the Baes will start airing on Monday, September 30. Watch the full trailer here:
