Ethel Gabison, more popularly known as  Ethel Booba, may have caught your attention through her laughable jokes on Twitter and humorous personality on TV but she has proven once again that her singing skill hasn’t been left behind.  The comedienne competed with YouTube personality Songyupsal, singer Marlo Mortel, and actor Alex Castro and she swept them all with her impressive rendition of “Help”.

With this, head judge Dulce, a 1975 winner of Tawag ng Tanghalan herself, asserted that maybe it’s time for Ethel to rebuild herself as a professional singer, aside from being a comedienne because her voice deserves another chance.

“God’s gift to you is singing, the gift of voice. Alam ko na hindi mo maiwasang mag-comedy, kasi natural kang comedian talaga. Pero, ang prayer ko, bumalik ka doon sa serious singing mo,” Dulce told her.

“Gusto ko talagang seryosohin mo ‘yung pagkanta mo, kasi ako, nanghihinayang ako… Mas bigyan mo pa ng time, kasi ang galing-galing mo,” the judge suggested.

“May premyo ‘to, ‘di ba?” Ethel, who’s 42, was fast to crack a witty remark after the comments.

She was declared the winner of the day having the highest score from all judges.

The comedienne first started her appearance on TV as a contestant of ABC’s “Sing Galing!” where  she won and defended her title for four weeks.  incidentally, Dulce was also a judge of that competition.  Ethel then began performing in comedy bars and sometimes do TV guestings and out of town shows.  But her recent philosophical  and sarcastic humor on Twitter which started during the last Miss Universe pageant made her a sensation once again.

She is popular in using a “charot” signature in every tweet which can definitely give you a chuckle with whatever serious POV she posts.

May you continue to win this battle, Ethel, and finally give yourself a rebirth of your singing career. Well,  a serious one this time.
