Our country will represent in a beauty pageant affair of gorgeous moms across the world in December.
Former That’s Entertainment Monday group talent Charo Laude gears herself for the Mrs. Universe 2019 pageant to be held two months from now. The beauty queen is the reigning Mrs. Universe Asia, who will replace Mrs. Universe Philippines, Patricia Javier.
Patricia opted to withdraw from the competition due to conflict in holiday plans with her family. Instead, the former actress chose to compete in the 1st Noble Queen of the Universe, which will happen on December 1 at the Manila Hotel.
Who is Charo Laude?
She joined That’s Entertainment in 1986 until it ended in 1996. During that period, she was able to star in a movie together with Shiela Ysrael. There were plans then for her first solo debut movie, but the project did not push through because she was prohibited from accepting daring roles.
She finished her degree in Mass Communications Major in Broadcasting. In 1998, she tried her luck in Binibining Pilipinas. The following year she was about to compete in the Mutya ng Pilipinas but she got pr
egnant and was married to her now-ex-husband with whom she had three beautiful kids.
Charo’s career focused on making TV commercials after that.
The 40-year-old beauty titlist admitted that she is happy to be part of the pageant because she enjoys this competition as a mom.
“It is not only a pageant na pagandahan, you know, paseksihan. Ito, mas more on advocacy.”
Charo’s advocacy is on “opposing violenc
e against women and children”. In her advocacy, she’s encouraging abus ed women to fight for their rights.
“So, andito kami, magsumbong sila sa amin para malaman nila na may kakampi sila, through us sa Mrs. Universe.”
She revealed that oppr
essed women and children could share their stories and find comfort through the Mrs. Universe Philippines Finest Women Facebook page.
Mrs. Universe 2019 will commence from December 22, 2019, until January 1, 2020, in Guangzhou, China.
