Nikki Gil is back to singing after three years of taking time off showbiz to focus on her family and blog. The singer-actress made her fans excited as she posted a photo on Instagram, which she captioned, “Back to my first love.” Gian Magdangal was also in the picture on stage with her.
Both are cast of a musical play “Carousel”, which made its debut in 1945 at Broadway in New York City. The story is about a couple who lost their jobs because of their love affair. Nikki plays as Julie Jordan, who is a millhouse worker while Gian is Billy Bigelow, a carousel barker. Unexpectedly, Julie became pr
egnant, which led Billy to involve himself in robberies to provide for the family.
The play was composed by Richard Rodgers and was put into lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II. The show is about to be premiered in the Philippines in May 2020 under the direction of Toff de Venecia.
“This is my first Repertory production. It’s always been a dream. I’m very honored to have been invited to do such an important musical, and to be surrounded by such amazing talent is something that my soul has been hungry for, for the last few years. It’s been a while, and I’m very excited, so we’ll see you all in May,” she told the media people during a sneak peek of the play.
The former Vj added that when she temporarily took a break from the entertainment industry, she knew she would get back to the stage someday because she likes theater that much and knew she could not give it up.
“And when the right material came my way, I realized… I’ve adjusted to motherhood enough, and diving in [back to the theater] was just perfect.”
Nikki Gil got married in 2015 to businessman BJ Albert. In 2017, she gave birth to their firstborn, Finn.
