On Twitter, Albert Raqueño —  the grandson of retired mariner Romeo Raqueño — shared that his 85-year-old “Tatay” was diagnosed with pneum0nia and their family is currently in need of financial help.

“We are in immediate need of financial assistance for the treatment of my lolo. He’s the ever pogi and cheerful lolo you can’t imagine life without. Because of this, we decided to have a benefit gig on the 21st (day of October)!” Albert wrote.

In an interview with Kicker Daily News, Albert expressed how much he loves his grandfather who has always been very thoughtful and loving; someone he has been admiring ever since.

“He was a master mariner during the 70s and traveled all around the world, hence the nickname Cap (comes from ‘captain’). Back then, Tatay would give us cash as a reward whenever we had good grades and let us have all the candy we want. He’s the type of lolo who would always greet his apos with a smile and makes sure all of us are well taken care of. At the age of 85, he’s still the same person with tremendous love for our family and our country,” he shared.

The gig for a cause was organized by Kean Cipriano, Chynna Ortaleza Cipriano, Martin Riggs, and Telay Robles.

“The people behind OC Records, the record label I work for, Kean Cipriano, Chynna Ortaleza Cipriano, as well as Martin Riggs and Telay Robles, have shown tremendous support to organize this benefit gig for my lolo. If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be able to even have a venue and a solid lineup,” Albert said.

Aside from Bullet and Unique, the other artists who are expected to perform at the 70’s Bistro in Quezon City are Earl Generao, Rice Lucido, Arthur Nery, Bita and The Botflies, Martin Riggs, Frizzle Anne, and Calein. The event will start at eight in the evening.

Meanwhile, Albert thanked all the people who have been helping their family amid this battle.

“We are incredibly grateful to those expressing their support for the gig and for my lolo. Your shares, deposits, and any kind of help mean a lot to us and Cap. It just shows how steadfast we are whenever there are people who need help. We’re all praying for his rec0very and we hope to do something in return for the help he’s been getting,” he expressed.
