Dubai-based Filipina CEO is ‘Female Leader of the Year’ in MEED awards

Dr. Karen Remo, the CEO and Co-Founder of New Perspective Media (NPM) Group, was awarded the “Female Leader of the Year Award’ in the Middle East Economic Digest (MEED) Awards 2019 held at the Ritz Carlton-Dubai International Financial Centre on November 27.   The award was given by Sultan Alshaali, Executive Director, Government Accelerators at the UAE Prime Minister’s Office.

MEED is one of the most distinguished award-giving bodies for businesses and business leaders in the Middle East.

New Perspective Media (NPM) Group is a 360-degree media, marketing and communications agency based in Dubai and the publisher of The Filipino Times, the largest Filipino newspaper in the UAE and the biggest digital platform for the Filipino in the Middle East. The website has 3 million visitors per month and is available to 236 countries.

She was given this distinction due to her “indomitable entrepreneurial spirit that allowed her to launch impressive portfolio as part of the NPM Group”.

In her speech, she highlighted that it was their clients and brands in the Middle East, North Africa, and Asia-Pacific regions, which gave them the chance to shine and make a difference.

“I am grateful to the UAE for being a cradle for more than 200 nationalities from across the globe including a significant number of Filipinos here who call the UAE their home, and for fostering the spirit of tolerance and entrepreneurship for everyone, ” she added.

She also works as a managing editor of 999 Magazine, the official publication of the Ministry of Interior.

In 2015, she became the first Filipina to receive the “Asian Women Leadership Award”.  She was also recognized as one of  “The 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the World” in 2016.
