The enhanced community quarantine did not stop Sponge Cola from honoring the sacrifices of frontliners. Through video chat, members of the well-known OPM band performed their hit song Makapiling Ka for the country’s “COVID heroes”.

On Facebook, the OPM band uploaded the video of the performance dedicated to the frontliners, especially the health workers, who have been risking their lives amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in the country.

“Dedicated to all our frontliners, lalo na sa mga nasa ospital. Kayo ang tunay na mga #bagongbayani,” read the caption of the video.

To note, a number of health professionals have succumbed to the dreaded illness since the fight against COVID-19 started weeks ago.

According to the latest data from the Department of Health (DOH), the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has reached 1,546, as of posting; which includes 78 fatalities and 42 recoveries.

Earlier, the DOH launched the DOH COVID-19 emergency hotlines 02-894-COVID (02-894-26843) and 1555 in partnership with the National Emergency Hotline of the Department of Interior and Local Government, and PLDT and its wireless subsidiary Smart Communications Inc.

Through the hotlines, callers can ask questions if they suspect they are infected with COVID-19, or request assistance if they have symptoms and/or known exposure to confirmed cases or patients under investigation.

The information collected from emergency calls is transmitted to the COVID-19 Emergency Operations Center and other relevant agencies for immediate facilitation and response.
