Dra. Carmina Fuentebella woke up on her 27th birthday on April 24 with the most precious gift she ever received — the gift of life.
The condition of the young resident of UST Ho
spital became critical due to COVID-19. She was even intubated; prompting her loved ones to ask prayers for her healing. Netizens came together in praying for her and now she is out of danger.
The doctor admitted that the past weeks have been difficult for her.
“It took me quite a while to fully comprehend what I just went through but I am really grateful to everyone who has been with me all the way,” Dra. Carmina said in a Facebook post.
Despite all the hardships she endured, she said she will continue serving patients once she fully recovers.
“It felt like a dead end, but through everyone’s efforts and prayers I’m finally on my way to full recovery. I may be down but rest assured that I will come back and once again battle at the frontlines — stronger and maybe a little bit more careful than before.”
She also thanked her fellow frontliners who took care of her while she still very sick.
“Words cannot express how thankful I am for all of you. For going out of your way to see if I was still breathing, for staying up countless nights to make sure I was still mentally okay, for enduring with me through every step of this hardship, and for all the things you did I was too sick to even know—from the bottom of my heart, I really, really thank you.”
Lastly, she says she is praying for the safety of all the frontliners. “We still have a long way to go, but I hope we can all stay healthy as we try to defeat the virus.”
Happy birthday, Dra. Carmina!
