- By doing his job well, he earns least Php500 a day on tips from customers
A few job opportunities have blossomed this quarantine. If you are not choosy and you have the right gears and willingness, you can still earn amid the COVID pandemic.
Construction was put on hold at the start of the outbreak. because of this Daniel Lavendia, 23, was left jobless. The construction worker has to find a source of income for his family. Daniel has a two-year-old child who has just weaned off breastfeeding and always need milk. He also has a younger baby, Athena, who is seven months old. His wife isn’t working cause she takes care of their kids.
Daniel grew up without a father due to an acci
dent and that circumstance may have encouraged him to work hard for the family.
He tried to apply as a driver delivery service formed on Facebook by Laguna riders; however, he failed to qualify since having a motorbike is one requirement while he only owns a bicycle.
Luckily, he was contacted by SM Supermalls when they were setting up their delivery service through its partner rider program. He is now part of the list of partner riders of the mall.
And how much is he earning? Daniel earns at least Php P500 a day from customer tips since he does not charge a delivery fee.
In an article by SM, he said, that he is thankful to SM laguna Community Riders as most of the time he doesn’t need to look for customers anymore. They are the ones who contact him.
“Sobrang laki ng tulong na naibigay sa akin ng SM Laguna Community Riders. Hindi ko na kailangan maghanap ng customer, kadalasan sila na ang kumo-contact sa akin.”
And what do clients think about his service?
Michelle Ledesma, a satisfied customer, described on social media. “Si Daniel po ay isang masipag at mapagkakatiwalaan na tao. Naka-ilang beses na po ako nagpapabili sa kanya. Kung nais n’yo pong magpabili, puwede n’yo po siyang i-PM. Makakatulong po kayo sa kanya sa paraan na ito.”
Daniel maintains his positivity in life. If the ECQ ends, he still wants to work as a construction worker. For now, he is trying to save to put up a small business.
