Who loves to shop at the ukay-ukay?
It is a great place to find very affordable clothes for your OOTDs. But sometimes, it just isn’t a lucky day. You can’t find the dress you want. So you end up going to the department store.
But this lady doesn’t need clothes that readily fits her because she can simply transform oversized clothing into fashionable ones.
Imee Marquez has started gaining attention on social media because of her skill in reinventing old clothes and ukay finds by giving it a whole new look.
She said in her post, “I don’t buy expensive clothes (not a rich kid though), but I buy ukay clothes which I can make it look expensive.”
An extra-large men’s long sleeves has become a jumpsuit. From a coat, she can make a stylish wear. Her old skirt is sewn into a dress. These are just a few of the magic she can do on some of her clothes.
Her latest photo album that showcases the before and after photos of her projects have earned more than 30k reactions, 10k comments and 72k shares. Wow! This lady deserves the attention she’s getting!
All of these became possible because this young lady is an expert sewer. Imee had taken a garment course when she was still in high school. She used a mechanical sewing machine then. It is now replaced with an electrical type.
For those who are interested to know how the transformation happens, she shares her sewing videos on her self-titled YouTube Channel.
Imee’s talent inspires many. Some tagged their friends who are ukay lovers and shared her works.
“You’re simply a talented, amazing person, full of ideas and so resourceful. By the way, everything really looks good on you.”
“Naka-iinspire naman! Ang galing. Gawain ko din ito noong high school kaya lang natigil nang mag-college, nagpamilya at nagwork. Now I have baby girls and maybe I should get back to my creative side again. Great job!”
What do you think, guys? Maybe it’s time to learn how to sew!
