- Catriona Gray recently donated blo0d to the Philippine Red Cross
- She also encouraged the public to do the same especially since supplies are running low due to COVID-19
- Red Cross Chairman Richard Gordon also encouraged public and private companies to launch donation drives in order to augment the diminishing supply
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray is encouraging the public to take part in blo0d donation drives spearheaded by the Philippine Red Cross.
Leading by example, the beauty queen herself donated blo0d in a visit to the Red Cross recently. “During my visit to the Philippine Red Cross headquarters, I did a simple yet meaningful act of saving lives — donating blo0d,” Catriona said in an Instagram post.
This, she said, is one of the easiest ways to save lives especially during the pandemic when most people are hesitant to go out to donate.
“Because of people’s hesitancy to visit bl0od banks during the pandemic, our supplies are worryingly low. Won’t you join me in donating?” Catriona, who was recently named the newest Red Cross Ambassador, said.
“The global pandemic may have restricted us from doing our normal routine but it should never hinder our passion to help and be compassionate towards our most vulnerable.”
Red Cross Chairman Richard Gordon has called on public and private agencies to launch regular institutionalized blo0d donation drives in order to collect enough to meet the demands.
San Miguel Corp. (SMC) President and CEO Ramon Ang has vowed to conduct drives among his employees from various parts of the Philippines.
“Hinimok ko po ‘yong mga kasamahan ko sa trabaho na kaming lahat magbigay, mag-contribute ng dugo regularly sa Red Cross para naman talagang makatulong tayo sa marami nating kababayan,” Ang said.
He added that their COVID survivor-employees have expressed willingness to donate convalescent plasma in order to help those in critical condition.
Those who are interested to donate may call the Red Cross Blo0d Center at 87902384 local 154 or 09178348276.
