This made Chin Alcantara, the founder, composer, arranger, producer and lead guitarist of the band, Make your Momma Proud, also known as M.Y.M.P., find ways how to generate income in the absence of his music gigs.

Chin ventured into food business and launched Chin Shao Tea in June. When he started, he even volunteered to deliver the orders himself.

In an interview with the “Bright Side” of GMA, he revealed, “Sabi ko, ‘Sige ako muna ‘yung magra-rider habang wala pa tayong rider. Sinimulan namin sa June, ako na mismo nag-deliver sa mga milk tea.’ ”

One netizen, Paula Janine Manuel, was surprised to discover that he was the rider who brought her order. She shared it on social media.

“Waaaaah!!!!!! Nag order ako milk tea sa Chin Shao Tea. Pagdating, nagulat ako kay kuya rider! Si Chin pala ng MYMP (OFFICIAL)! Wala daw kasing gig at trabaho pa kaya delivery boy muna. Suportahan natin guys negosyo ni idol! Mismo itong #ChinShaoTea authentic Taiwan flavor ng milk tea!”

And it seemed customers liked that idea. Until now, many still request him to deliver. He jokingly said they can if they will order at least 10 cups.

Chin also owns Dish and Dat that has best-sellers tofu sisig, beef with broccoli, inihaw na pusit, barbecue, buttered chicken at beef tapa.

Over time, he admitted to having adjusted to his new career while the pandemic is going on. He advised people to be resilient, save and be willing to sacrifice to survive this situation.

“Kailangan marunong tayo at willing tayong mag-adjust sa situation. Magtipid tayo, at willing tayong mag-sacrifice.”
