- A former Asia’s Next Top Model contestant showed netizens the big difference in her body right now
- Clara Tan said she gained 17 kilos
- Although she felt insecure, Clara said she has learned to love and accept her body
Former Asia’s Next Top Model (AsNTM) Season 5 contender Clara Tan shared a powerful message about positivity when she posted a photo of her showing her imperfections.
The 25-year-old Clara, who represented Indonesia in the model search, admitted that she is now far from the “perfect” model she was known to be. “I gained 17 kilos but that is okay because I am happy,” she said.
The model said she started following strict diet when she was 18 years old so she felt free now that she can eat anything that she wants.
“In this picture, I want to tell you guys that I am not ‘perfect’ anymore. Our bodies change as we grow up, but that is okay. I am human as well,” she narrated.
Clara, however, confessed that she feels insecure about her body but she has learned to love it. “When you accepted your flaws, no one can use them against you,” she added.
One’s life, she said, should not be controlled by other people’s opinion. “You only live once. You should follow what you enjoy and not follow the crowd and so what others think is the right thing.”
She also reminded girls not to compare themselves with the picture-perfect models they see online because those do not really mirror the reality.
“What you see on Instagram is not real. There is so much editing to find the right angle, so much filters to make you believe that everyone online is flawless. The perfect life, the perfect body [do not exist],” she noted.
“This is me showing my flaws with confidence. Will you do the same?” Clara ended; adding the hashtag show your flaws.
Clara was the batch mate of Filipina-German Maureen Wroblewitz who took home the AsNTM Season 5 title.
