- A dog trainer who owns Milo and Friends FB Page set a fundraising campaign for Rachelle, the woman who was dragged by the train while saving her dog
- In two days, he was able to gain Php140k from his page supporters here and abroad
- Rachelle’s mother was so grateful upon receiving the money as her family has no means to provide for her treatment
A woman risked her lif
e to save her dog from an oncoming train at Barangay 593, Sta. Mesa, Manila. The dog was fortunate to avoid danger but the woman named Rachelle, 19 was dragged 2 meters away.
The incident went viral online as it showed how much a true pet lover was willing to risk for her dog Buddy.
Rachelle though was still lucky to survive the incident and is currently at the ho
spital for treatment, but considering the costs, the family is challenged because her father has no job and they were not able to sell porridge anymore due to what happened.
The good news is that her story has touched a lot of animal lovers including Daryl Tristan Huertas of Milo & Friends who does dog trainings and the like. Through his influence on his page of more than a million followers, he made a fundraising campaign for Rachelle’s financial assistance. And very quickly, many supporters here and abroad responded to his call. From an initial update of more than P62,000 on his Gcash account, donations kept coming until the funds reached P140,000.
Tristan met with Rachelle’s mother, Elsie and turned over the money.
“Salamat po. Sobra po akong nagpapaslamat dahil nakatulong po kayo sa amin nang sobra dahil wala naman po talaga kaming pagkukunan ng panggastos ng anak ko.. Sobrang salamat po talaga. ‘Di ko po makakalimutan ang tulong ninyo sa anak ko,” Elsie said.
Rachelle suffered a pelvic inju
ry, the reason why she needs to undergo an op eration to repair it by inserting a stainless device for her to walk again. The device alone costs P70,000. Besides the op eration, more money is still required for her after-care and miscellaneous expenses.
Previously, she received a wheelchair and PNR also assured her that they will be giving financial support.
Tristan said that he is still accepting donations for Rachelle so for those who have a kind heart, you may see his post here for more details.
Aside from uploading fun to watch videos with his dog Milo, Tristan regularly does fundraising activities for animals in need.
