- The Philippines is one of the ‘most Instagrammable’ places in the world
- It ranked second to Tokyo in a travel website’s list
- The website cited the country’s colorful colonial streets and the beautiful Boracay beach
With beautiful colonial streets, underground rivers and pristine, white beaches, the Philippines easily ranked as one of the most Instagrammable destinations in the world, second only to Tokyo, according to a travel website.
In its compilation of the 50 ‘most Instagrammable’ places on the planet released on Thursday, Big 7 Travel listed the Philippines in second place, outperforming perennial favorite holiday destinations such as Madrid, New York and even Paris.
“Home to incredible natural wonders like an underground river and tranquil rice terraces in addition to a vibrant culture and history spanning several millennia; and over 7,500 islands – the Philippines as a whole are extremely Instagrammable,” the travel website described one of Asia’s top tourist destination.
The ranking, according to Big 7 Travel is based on “a scoring system that analyzed the amount of hashtags per destination, survey results from our social audience, and input from our editorial team.”
“From the bustling capital of Manila complete with colourful colonial streets to the absolute oasis of Boracay, the gram opportunities here are endless,” it added.
Tokyo, Japan came on top mainly because of its “ancient shrines, other-worldly art exhibits and vibrant neon-lit billboards galore” which are just a few things that make it a hit on the Instagram.
In third place is Paris, France, followed by New York City and Istanbul, Turkey.
Rounding up the top ten are Dubai, UAE; Havana, Cuba; Sydney, Australia; London, England; and Chicago, Illinois.
In a separate article published several months ago, Big 7 Travel also named the 7 ‘most Instagrammable’ restaurants across the capital Manila.
These are the Filling Station Bar And Café, The Wholesome Table, Apero, MLK+T, Harbour View Restaurant, Vanilla Café, and Le Petit Soufflé.
