The bride cancels wedding when groom fails her simple math test. "How much is fifteen plus six?" a bride in New Delhi, India, inquired of her fiancé. "Seventeen!" exclaimed the groom. With the obvious answer of 21, the startled bride realized that her fiance is uneducated.

She slammed his family for wrongly saying he was educated, then skipped her own wedding, according to Yahoo! News SG. The groom's family attempted, but failed, to appease the bride. She simply does not want to marry an illiterate man.

Even when her own family tried to persuade her to ahead with the marriage, the bride refused. As a result, they were soon forced to return the gifts given to them by the groom's family.

The Real Story

Though the story appears to be a fraud, it was actually true. According to Rakesh Kumar, a local police officer, the incident occurred last Friday in Rasoolabad hamlet in the state of northern Uttar Pradesh.

For privacy concerns, both names were withheld, but Kumar confirmed the story was real.

Mohar Singh, the bride's father, also corroborated the story, stating his daughter and their family are dissatisfied that the groom tried to fool him into thinking he was an educated man, but he couldn't answer a simple Math test that "even a first grader" could answer.

Local Police Intervention

The altercation may have turned into a full-fledged brawl, but local authorities intervened in time. The police quickly worked as mediators between the feuding families, eventually reaching an acceptable conclusion. All items obtained from the bride's family will be returned to the groom's side, and vice versa.

After the presents and jewelry were returned, the families went back to their own homes, shaking their heads at how a wedding ceremony could have been ruined by a simple Math mistake.

Final Words

The bride cancels wedding when groom fails her simple math test. This reportedly included basic math problems such as adding 15 and 6. While some may view this as an extreme or unusual decision, it highlights the importance of compatibility and shared values in marriage. Additionally, it serves as a reminder that education and intelligence come in many forms and should be valued by all individuals.
