Girl, 16, raped by textmate she met just weeks ago. The police arrested Mariel dela Cruz, 32, after a 16-year-old girl reported him as the textmate who raped her during their “eyeball”, reports the Inquirer.
Although they had only known each other for a few weeks, the girl agreed on meeting him for some drinks at his home. Together with her friends, she went to dela Cruz’s house where he plied them with gin, said the commander of the Sampaloc station of the Manila Police District, Supt. Mannan Muarip.
Date Rape
Drunk from the gin, the high school student fell asleep on the couch while her friends reportedly went out to buy food.
She woke up to find dela Cruz sexually abusing her on the couch sometime around 7 pm. Too weak from being drunk, she was not able to escape his clutches.
It was only after the act was done that the young girl was able to escape. She quickly ran outside. She and her friends made their escape.
Upon arriving home, she told her sister of the rape. Together, they went to the police station to report the crime. A few hours later, the police were able to arrest dela Cruz at his house.
The victim underwent medical examination after she gave her statement to the police. The girl’s camp believe DNA from the medical examination will be a strong evidence against the alleged rapist.
The family filed a case against dela Cruz at the city prosecutor’s office.
